New Total Training DVDs Ease Transition to Adobe InDesign CS

Specialized training helps creative professionals leverage Quark and PageMaker experience to get up to speed with the newest version of Adobe's layout and design software

Carlsbad, CA, January 28, 2004 - Total Training, a leader in the production and distribution of video-based training for some of the industry's most popular software programs, today introduced a pair of new training products that Adobe Systems will employ to help users of page layout software make an easy transition to Adobe® InDesign® CS. One title will give users of QuarkXPress software insight into the increased production power, creative freedom, and operating efficiencies afforded by Adobe InDesign CS. The other set will help PageMaker users make an efficient move to a next-generation page layout platform with Adobe InDesign CS PageMaker® Edition.

For users of competing QuarkXPress software, Total Training has developed a disc entitled Total Training Presents: Why to Convert from QuarkXPress to Adobe InDesign CS, with David Blatner. Hosted by a former Quark evangelist and author of The QuarkXPress Book and Real World QuarkXPress, this 45-minute program details InDesign's industry-leading features, speed and ease-of-use, and provides in-depth comparisons between the two software packages.

For users of PageMaker, Total Training has created two other training discs that will be packaged in a special edition of InDesign. Adobe's new InDesign CS PageMaker Edition includes a full version of Adobe InDesign CS software plus an innovative PageMaker Plug-in Pack, templates, familiar features, keyboard shortcuts and training materials designed to make switching to InDesign CS easy for designers, educators and business users. In addition to getting Total Training's Video Workshop for Adobe InDesign CS (a broad InDesign primer already included in the InDesign CS box with all new purchases of the software), customers will receive Total Training Presents: Migrating from Adobe PageMaker to InDesign CS. This training series, led by Adobe software expert Brian Maffitt, will help users migrate their documents and software knowledge from PageMaker to InDesign, helping them hit the ground running as they use this new program and build on their existing PageMaker experience.

"There is a shift taking place in the page layout and design arena and a greater demand for training content as more customers make the switch to InDesign CS," said Mark Hilton, director of product management, Creative Professional Products at Adobe Systems. "Total Training takes a user-centric approach that addresses the issues customers face when switching to a new page layout platform, delivering crucial hints and tips in a visual, engaging, and helpful manner."

"The fact that Adobe is working with Total Training to educate users on its next-generation page layout software is a testimonial to the ability of our DVDs and CDs to get users up and running on popular software programs quickly," said Total Training President and CEO John Bell. "At Total Training, we aim to educate creative professionals and designers right out of the gate, freeing them up to focus on being more creative and producing high-quality print and Web projects with ease."

Total Training offers more in-depth instruction on InDesign's features and functionality in its DVD-based series, Total Training for Adobe InDesign CS. The company also offers comprehensive video training for the entire Adobe Creative Suite, from workflow training to in-depth instruction on each of the individual programs (Photoshop® CS, Illustrator® CS, InDesign CS, GoLive® CS, and Acrobat® 6.0 Professional).
